Good god. Oh for the days when we were all united in a common cause and could feel good about cooking bacon and saving the grease.
ReplyDeleteI never, ever, realized this was done during the war. Thanks for the enlightenment and entertainment! We saved bacon grease at home because we didn't have money to spare for "new" grease. My parents both have clogged arteries and high blood pressure. Unrelated, I'm sure. In spite of that, my son's reaction is just like Pluto's was, when he smells bacon cooking!
