Thanksgiving, Part I

We'll see if I can pull this off.... It will require some cooperative guests who are willing to play along...

  1. O M G I cannot WAIT to hear the rest of this!!!!! I didn't laugh right out loud but there was this grin that would not be denied.

I love love love the ease/energy/rapport (not sure what to call it) that you and your son have with each other. Beautiful.

    1. I hope you're not being insincere, Taliesin. It's hard to tell sometimes. But thanks, either way.

    2. I don't think there's ever been a time that I've replied to your blog that there has been any insincerity. I apologize if my way of writing has ever left that kind of a doubt in your mind. I would say that what you write inspires, among other really positive things, sincerity. Your openness, honesty, and non-judgmental way of being, has always made it easy for me to respond here.

Thanks for letting me know how my tone can be perceived. I sincerely appreciate that.

  2. You are so organized and fun, with your pudding tradition and your storytelling activity and your announcement person role! Here's how our special meals go: husband and I roar around like demented people cooking a turkey, making a thousand side dishes plus a meal for the family vegetarian, and cleaning All The Things, then the guests arrive, we eat and talk, and the guests leave and we die on the couch. I very much like your way better but I can't seem to figure out how to fit anything else in. How do you do it?

    1. Ha! How I do it it this: it's always sketchy here, The Things aren't necessarily clean, and there might not be any glasses to drink out of (good thing about beer is that it comes with it's own drinking vessel), and the food groups might not all be represented properly, but I've discovered that if I invite lovely kind people as guests, people who won't judge me on my china or cleanliness, I can relax and all will be well. So I guess I'm lucky to have such charitable guests. Happy Thanksgiving!

    2. Same to you (late, I'm afraid) (but ours was in October) and I hope you had a wonderful day. I think we still need to clean everything on account of the four cats, you know. Because unlike you, who "got no cats", we have a surplus and their fur tends to drift everywhere. Everywhere. Looking forward to hearing what took place with the pudding stories.
